MUSIC fans are in for a festive treat after organisers today revealed a host of top chart names who will be performing at Birmingham's official Christmas lights switch-on. Pop group McFly, The Ordinary Boys, Channel 4's Rock School star Lil Chris, and home-grown talent Ocean Colour Scene will be among eight acts performing at Millennium Point on Saturday, November 11 2006. Former boy band Blue star Simon Webbe, who has had a top-selling album, with three hit singles and is about to release his second album, has been signed up to press the button and switch on the lights. The four-and-a-half-hour concert, which is free, kicks-off at 3pm and culminates with the official switching on of the lights at 7.30pm, having been organised by Birmingham City Council and the Pallasades shopping centre. It includes a firework finale and a funfair, as well as entertainment from BRMB's breakfast show presenters Elliott Webb and Caroline Martin. Councillor Ray Hassell, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture, said Christmas is a time for families and children. Therefore we are producing one of the best packages of family-friendly Christmas events and activities anywhere in the UK.
We want to give the people of Birmingham a Christmas they'll remember for years to come. For more details about the concert or for information about what is happening in Birmingham this Christmas call 0121 202 5066 or log www.birmingham.gov.uk/christmas or more details click here to access. Thx!
